Shannon Tyrie

Shannon is a registered psychologist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Queensland. She is also a Clinical Psychology Registrar. Shannon has experience working across the lifespan, with a particular interest in working with teenagers and young adults. She has worked in both public and private settings including an inpatient setting, youth housing, and child and youth mental health services.

Shannon is flexible in her approach to therapy, and highly values the ability to work collaboratively with her clients. She aims to develop comprehensive case formulations and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs. She primarily uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and has been trained in Triple P – Positive Parenting Program.

Shannon has experience working with a range of anxiety disorders, mood and emotion dysregulation, self-harm, eating disorders, and trauma related presentations. Shannon has particular interest in treating adults with difficulties related to childhood trauma, anxiety, and struggles with self-worth. She is passionate about supporting teens to develop their identity, navigate challenges in their life and within the family, as well as supporting those experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.

Shannon values being able to provide a safe environment for members of the LGBTQIAP+ community. She is warm and non-judgemental, with values of curiosity and ongoing learning.
